As Receiver our experience in multiple SEC enforcement actions include identification and sequestration of the assets of the defendants (which in many instances includes the initiation of litigation against third parties), liquidation of personal and real property, identification of the rightful claimants, determining the amounts of their claims, filing of appropriate fiduciary tax returns and distribution of the proceeds.

James A. Knauer also served as an examiner and a receiver in the case of SEC vs. Wellington Bank. These cases principally arose from Ponzi Schemes and involved the process of asset recovery as well as proceeds distribution. Collectively, these cases involved identifying, notifying, analyzing and processing for payment the claims of thousands of investors. In most of the cases, the investor body was so large that we also established websites to keep investors informed on the progress of the cases.
